Formatting Guidelines
Written media:
Wordlimit: 2,500 words maximum
Font: Please use a clear, readable font. E.g Times New Roman or EB Garamond, black, 11-point font
Titled: [Category] - [FirstName LastName] - [Title] (e.g. Poetry - Dylan Thomas - And Death Have Shall No Dominion)
All work must be written in English. If your piece is predominantly in another language, an English translation must be provided
Art & Visual media:
Accepted formats: Must be converted into a shareable format in Google Drive in highest quality possible. E,g: .jpg, .jpeg, .png.
short film: max ~10 minutes
music: max ~8 min
You may submit multiple images of the same artwork if necessary
If your work includes text, it must be written in English. If it is not, an English translation must be provided

Though we understand the need for self-expression, Youth of Letters does not tolerate any overly gratuitous or glorifying descriptions of sex, sexual assault, violence, self-harm, suicide, and/or abuse. Some readers and editors are minors, so please refrain from using explicitly sexually or NSFW content.
To respect the scholarship of the original authors, we also do not accept fan-works.

Absolutely. Each submission, regardless of acceptance or rejection, receives feedback in their decision letter. If accepted, a contributor’s piece will be provided one-on-one feedback by one of our editors.

Yes! Youth of Letters believes your work is at your own liberty. However, please do indicate which publication(s) you previously submitted your work. Simultaneous submissions are also accepted.

Please expect an email from Youth of Letters within two to three weeks of the submission deadline regarding the status of your piece.
